Congratulations! You made it. We have reached the end of another calendar year. (Yes, I know we are only half way through the financial year here Down Under.)
Personally, I am mentally and physically exhausted following a hectic year without a break and am hugely looking forward to heading back to the UK for the holiday season.
It’s time for reflection. I know many of you continue to hit record numbers, well done to you all.
So what will you do to improve yet again in 2025?
As you prepare for a well earned rest, consider the following to maintain your good performance and if you were not celebrating record growth this year, consider these questions carefully to change your fortunes.
Working out answers to these questions will also help you highlight achievements, identify gaps and shortfalls, and focus your investments (time and money) moving forward.
Use the following list with key players within your firm.
What is our largest business development challenge?
How are we dealing with it?
How long have we had the problem?
What have we done to address it?
How is it impacting the firm?
What is it costing us?
If it continues, what will the effect on the business be?
What are we good at and should do more of?
What are we poor at and must stop doing?
What will we do differently tomorrow to ensure we hit our business development, financial and wider goals?
BONUS QUESTION: Are we able to attract and retain the best human talent on the market?
Don’t underestimate the power of work-shopping these issues as a group. These questions will help you focus, prioritise, and get back on track. Finding answers to simple questions can be a great catalyst for clarity and change.
